Two more newbie questions; tank and choke

My tank seems a little wavy on the left side. Could it be distorted from modern fuels? Is this anything to be concerned about long-term? The tank seems solid other than the slightly visible distortion. The right side is fine - perhaps since the bike leans to the left on the side stand the left side is more vulnerable?

The choke snaps right back. I did do some major cleaning and I did spray the levers with WD40. Is there a friction plate that I defeated?

I took my second ride today after getting the bike probably three or four weeks ago. I had do do some major cleaning and minor maintenance. This time again just around the block, but I am very impressed with what this bike is showing me.

My choke does the same thing, I just keep my thumb on it till it smooths out a bit. My tank is not perfectly smooth either, a little wavy on the sides. The plastic looks pretty thick, so I don't think this is from the gas, maybe they pulled the parts out of the molds too fast?????
