Well I guess it has to happen at some stage... I commute with my bike as well, so the risk of getting nailed by an idiot increases the odds... but I never expected it to be at standstill :pissed:... I would expect it to happen when i split lanes...

... what's worse is that I was gonna go touring this morning, I had a 1600km ride to the coast to hook up with my mates for a week of riding around the Cape Town area. I managed 4kms on brand new tyres before I was lying in the middle of the intersection with the bike on the floor as well.

Bitch came flying down the road, locked up brakes and skidded about 35m before she wacked me from behind. The bike and I ended up 5-8 m from where I was stopped at the red light. This intersection has 5 red lights facing the traffic... shit, if you can't see that, then I guess I am fucked :pissed:

She is about 25, has her license for just over a month and no insurance. Bitch!!

... let the repairs begin!

So here is Isiah... one eye is higher than the other :o

glad you're ok, and the bike doesn't look too bad. you may be getting it totaled out though. if that happense make sure you buy it back. track plastics and take her out where she belongs. hope it all works out, let me know if ya need anything and make sure you get a judgement from court (if that's how ya do down there in the south)

Hope your all right. Living to ride another day is the most important. Are you going to repair the bike then or have them total it out? I'm sure its fixable I just question impact accidents rather then just bike only accidents because of the stress on the swing arm/suspension/frame.

I'm okay and that's the most important part, thanks guys.

I love this bike, there is no way I will let them total it. The damage does not seem too bad, I'm just hoping the rear rim is okay. I still need to strip her down to check the extent of damage to the rear axle and swingarm if any.

Front rim ended up with a scratch, but OZ rims are not cheap, so I may have to end up living with it :pissed:

I will let my insurance handle it, but I will keep tabs on them.

I don't know how Aussie insurance works, but over here, I would demand replacement parts, not patch-and-paint. Get all new stuff and don't let them fk you over it..

Best of luck man.

Malibongwe and Mohagany, just down the road from Banbury Cross. I must admit when I got up I was livid, I was ready to slap something... I can't understand her speed in peak hour. I'm part of Think Bike trying to create bike awareness and then I get this :pissed:

The important thing is your ok, but I fear that same type of accident as well with all the illegal no driving uninsured immigrants in my neck of the woods.

How you didn't come out of that with whiplash is just plain lucky.

Check the frame behind the gear shift, it may be cracked, happened to mine.

yeah you have a MIN of $2,000 in cosmetic damage alone that number can go up really quick as your frame is gouged and your stock cans are damage I didn't include those in the rough estimate, What is all that oil from by the shifter?

this is what i did when i got hit on my 749s;
take it to a dealer that you trust to write up their estimate
if they total it out, buy it back and fix it up ebay/track style (ended up profiting off this for me)
use money from payout for a new bike...at least you can do that here in fla

if the dumbass hit my bike, he will be dead before he realized my bike is laying on the ground.

Out here spares are even more expensive, so yeah... it's not gonna be pretty :pissed:

As for the oil, I have an oil leak somewhere since the dealer left my flywheel loose. I still haven't isolated the leak... the hours I have spent looking for it is not even funny anymore. It's just a weep, just can't find it. I hadn't washed the bike in 2 weeks cos of work hours, so she is dirty as well.

... oh, and she has 110k kms (68,365 miles), so she's not exactly new anymore ;)
