I get about 6 to 7 litres/100km, depending on riding style. Reserve light comes on around 180-200km. I have managed worse :D

around 30 mpg.

I ride smart (fast where its safe and cautious when it's not but keep it around 5 to 6 k so I have instant power to get out of the cage maze when I need to.

I get 35 average with mixed highway and city. 16/42 gears. I get on it once and a while but i keep it pretty tame in the rurarl areas. usually I fill up at 120 miles and it usually takes about 3.3 gallons up to the neck of the tank.

Don't lug the engine.

:plus:
I agree on that 100% even at cruiz its better to keep the engine at 3000-4000. Try not to go below that 3k mark though.

You could get a Harely - they don't mind the 3k mark :kidding:

With exception to the V-Rod - I have one, but still cruse above 4K.

I can get 35 mpg highway if I don't pretend I'm Nicky Hayden and 30 mpg if I do:)

oh yeah, I think I dipped below the 30mark on the last tank but I was ridding with the rev's up pretty good and I haven't gotten out much so I've been a little spirited in my riding. I average 30-35 which sucks for a motorcycle but it sure is fun. Side note my Guzzi gets about 35-40tops more like 35, sad for how much less power it has but will probably still be on the road long after I'm gone(unless oil goes away) I keep thinking I could stand to get a scoot or some kind of small bike with a lot of storage or maybe one of those little diesel bikes they only get a meager 100mi a gallon, damnit if I have to fill up after riding across 3 states
http://www.motorcyclecruiser.com/roadtests/neander_1400_turbo_diesel_motorcycle/index.html
this uses the same gear box we have, makes you think that the thing really is rock solid if they're using it in a DIESEL cruiser putting out GOBS of torq

I don't think that model puts out 100mpg but its pretty high for its performance but they do make old single pumper looking diesels with somelike like a blistering 7-14 hp that make 150+ miles a gallon. More realistic in the states but with virtually no dealer network could be the Royal Enfield Bullet Electra-X would make a good town bike 100mpg average
heck who needs a Mana - http://auto.howstuffworks.com/1956-simplex-automatic.htm

but I digress that almost ANY sport bike isn't for the frugality of it, its for the fun and fun doesn't come cheap. I may trade my Aprilia in someday for a stock harley and just have to live with the 50mpg pig I guess

:plus: same here.

the 15/42 gearing doesn't help things much, nor does not being able to fill it to the rubber seal thing as fuel always comes out the pipes by the fairing (not the overflow, no problems with the seals.

I miss the days of getting 150miles from a tank on my R6!

I've gone as far as 144 miles without filling up, mostly steady cruising. Around town, I get between 32 and 38 depending on what I'm doing with the bike. If I really go hammer it, I drop below 30. Usually I go about 110 miles before filling up and it's always well under 4 gallons when I do.

light comes on at 120miles. if i fill up then its right at 3.5gallons. i have pushed it to 4.8gallons at fill up, which was right at 165-170miles. so est 34-35mpg.

ohhhh you are brave, I've heard that going too low is hard on your fuel pump so what do you want to do reaplace after 3k?(just guessing) your fuel pump or fill up ever 100ish miles?
I have no idea how long it would take but I've heard starving your vehicle to the point of stuttering or damn near is going to wear out your fuel pump a lot faster.

i have always heard this as well, is it an old wive's tale or is there some truth to it? i always fill up around a 1/3 of a tank for the sake of not running out on a ride. one thing the rsv has is a huge tank compared to my other sportbike.

I seem to get mid 30s no matter how I ride. Only thing that affects it much is how much I stop; int he canyons it's probably 5-10% higher mpg.

It really depends on the pump. Some pumps don't like to be run dry even for a second while others are tolerant of the practice. Anyone know who makes the stock pump?

Low 30's and I keep the RPM's around 5-6K most of the time.

Depending on the particular tune I am running at the time, I always run in the 33 to 38 MPG range for mixed city / highway.

Always drops to 33 or 34 during cold weather due to the warm up time.

The peak highway (65 to 85 mph) was 42 with a little leaner setup.

The good news is that it still runs 33 when running 100 plus mph.
Not bad for a big double thumper.

I think these bikes are pretty thirsty, I get about 160km on a tank, usually get about 16litres in it when I fill up.

RSV Boy: 'spirited' or no? my best has been 220k, and I get 190 - 200 usually. This's main tank, not hitting reserve.

Riding at ~130kph with the occasional WOT (ish - my wrist doesnt flex that far)

How the hell are you guys getting such high figures from your bikes? This makes no sense!

I dont think I ride particularly fast but perhaps my perception is different to others! :gunner:

last fillup of 2.5 gallons was right when the light came on, after 88 miles so: 88/2.5= 35.3 mpg so sounds about right. My old SV got much better gas mileage, because it was a smaller motor, and it was happy putzing around in the low rpm range 2-5k, my ape hates being down there.

thats no joke, except for cruising in 6th on the freeway around 3k it hates beint below 5, might explain the thirst but then if you think about it its funny we get worse milage than a honda accord that holds 4 ppl and luggage, oh well, we'll have more fun getting where ever we're going :burnout:

I have ridden for extended periods at +240km/h in high ambient temps, only then will my reserve light come on at around 150-160km

I'm getting 6.6 l/100km averaged - should be 35.9 mpg. Minimum consumption was 5.5 l/100km (42,8 mpg). Maximum consumption was 7.3 l/100km (32.0 mpg) at fast road use in the twisties.
