View Full Version : Tail tidy and what not?

First question is about the tail tidy. I see 2 makes out there. One by R&G and another by Evotech. What's the differnece between the 2 besides one using the original license light? Which is better quality/looking
Also, has anyone tried to incorporate the blinkers into the taillight so there doesn't need to be blinkers at all? This would be a very clean look if it's possible.
Lastly, the tuono has some great looking parts, do any of them fit the shiver such as the headlamp/windscreen assembly or belly pan etc?
I'm very pleased with my Evotech item. It's well made, very rigid and makes good use of the original indicators and number plate light. The indicators end up further apart and higher so the number plate fits between them. It has really helped tidy up the rear end. To be honest, I don't think there's a great deal of difference between the R&G and Evotech units, save for the use of the original plate light. I went with the Evotech one because I didn't fancy changing the lighting.

Why waste your money?
That UK plate is so huge and ugly anyway.
Just cut off the little reflective thingy and you have your tail just as tidy.

I'm in the US and we have the little plates...I'm wondering now if it is more designed for the european plates and the indicators will stick out too far?

I still fail to see the point.
I'm in aus. and we have a really small plate in our state, but it still covers the whole tail unit anyway. Only the little plastic reflector sticks out.
I personally don't care about that kind of stuff so I'm leaving it for now but I would certainly understand people cutting it off.

I have to agree with Makrand.
I prefer the look with the original arrangement, especially with a full size UK plate.
I think for the tail tidy to work you need to shrink the plate.
Personally, whilst I am tempted, I am currently of the mindset to keep the full size plate and hence the whole rear end as standard. I do hate the UK plates, and this will be the first bike I've ever kept that way (so there is a likelihood it won't stay that way, but there is a certain convenience in having one bike completely legal).

I have fitted a slightly smaller plate, probably not legal but I work next to the Police headquarters in Worcester, they love my bike and have never said anything about my rear number plate?
I know some guys take the piss and have really small plates with different
fonts etc, I think mine isn't too bad, that's probably why the let me off?

I thought the one on my Tuono wasn't too bad (and it was bigger than any plates I've had on any other bikes), but I still got nicked for it last year.

I'm going to see if I can integrate the blinkers into the taillight. or something along those lines. and then see if I can relocate the plate elsewhere.
The US license plate bracket is an even more huge monstrosity hanging behind the bike. It has reflectors on each side and sticks out more. Rules on that type of thing are pretty strict here.
Anyway, If I can make something work with eliminating the blinkers and integrating into the taillight I'll post how to's and pics, if not I'll go with a tail tidy. I appreciate the input.

I thought it was just me
Sorry, the back end view of the shiver is seriously ugly, it's got that absurd reflector hanging down, the whole thing looks like a face and the reflector the goatee. Just entirely too much going on with the shiver back end! ;)

The worst thing about the rear end (in the uk) is the hideous UK number plate. That's the only thing that really needs fixing IMHO. Although if you go for a small plate you have to remove the reflector or it would look stupid.

I like the idea of integrating the rear turn signals into the tail light and hacking the reflector off. Does anybody offer an integrater for the shiver yet?

I suspect evoluzione will come up with one pretty quick, they make good stuff for ducs and prillers and other bikes too.

oooooh lets all write to them and ask :)
I have.
They replied and said they need a bike in to make stuff for.
Anyone near them can spare their bike for a day or two?

Wrp produces a tail tidy for the Shiver but do not know where to get them or what they look like.

I bought and like the Evo and there is a good install thread somewhere around here. Here are a couple good pics too..
Two Tips
1. I think its better to disassemble the turn signals and pull wires through. DONT CUT ANY WIRES!
2. I did not remove the seat and do the secondary plate..did't see the purpose.
Good Luck

I do not understand your reply. I just mention that the company wrp produce a tail tidy, but that I have not seen pictures of it. You're posting pictures of the evotec...?

I don't think Fashiver was replying to your post he was just stating that he has and likes the Evotech.
Fashiver you said you haven't installed the secondary plate, I presume this is the under side part of the tail tidy. First where is the key slot for the seat release? and second are you not bothered about road grime and dirt getting in all the wiring etc that is now on show?

Key slot on Shivers is in the left rear side panel.
