Does anyone knows a color code to obtain an Aprilia red?

I'm in the process of having my rims painted and the guy syas nothing on the bike is big enough to be scaned...

I would need the brand of the paint and the color code if possible.

Thanks.

Seems that Aprilia reds have changed over the years and none of them have available paint color codes. Color matching is the only way I'm aware of doing it. What year red color are you going for? The 04,05 or 06-up?

I have an 07 red front fender I'm not using (the newer red that is kinda orange/red) that you could borrow to get a color match done but you'd have to pay shipping from me to you, and then back to me. If you're desperate and want to use it let me know.

Thanks for the offer:cheers:

I saw some codes: PPG, Sikkens using the search function... Very practical:bump:

I know Aprilia doesn't have the paint codes available unless maybe someone has a good connection. I suppose these paint codes you've found are others that have had the paint matched then saved the codes?

Verry likely but, if someone has something else than the Sikkens and PPG's code, that could be helpfull :)

I had to pull these numbers off some posts back in 04, but here they are....

Aprilia 94 used PPG code 77963 for his race bikes that turned out very nice and a good match to the factory red for the 04 bikes. There is also an UK Ebay seller that claims to have touchup paint so you might be able to buy a small bottle of it and match that. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/BIKECOLOURS_APRILIA-PAINT_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQftidZ2QQtZkm
If the Ebay thing works let us know.

I had my rims painted and they were able to match the paint using the original Aprilia Red front fender. Please note that its one of those small, old school hole in the wall paint shop. Not the big volume with huge parking lots filled with cars and fancy hi-tech building. I remember the painter mentioned of mixing the colors with Flourescent Tint and here's how it came out.

Your bike is awesome man!

I too think it's one of the nicest bike I've seen!

Wasn't it Nyha's (or something) bike before you bought it?

I had this bike on my desktop for a while:cheers:

I don't think I will order the touch up paint but, I told my painter the PPG code you mentionned. It was not the same I saw before in prior posts. So thank you for your effort to help man:cheers:

Here's the thread I got it from in case you want to see what color the red turns out to be:

Cheers M8! And thanks for the compliments. She's definitely my pride and joy and an everyday commuter.

I originally emulated the look from Dr. Thrillride back in January 2005 and a few months later....NellyMiha got his rims either painted or powdercoated....Cant remember................But No I didn't buy it from Nelly.

Your bike is gonna look great when complete! Make sure you share those pics.

The painter called today...

How much did it cost you to have your wheels painted again?

Is it true that paint VS powder coating is very fragile?

Did you change your tires many time since repainting? Are they still perfect?

Thanks!

Powder coat will hold up much better than most paint on rims but you will probably have to replace wheel bearings with powder coat due to the heat. Im not too sure about color match for powder coat, but most places only carry a few colors. Then again there is always the option to spray you own paint on the rims. Prep work and patience is they key to a good job as well as the right reducer.

Hi !
i payed about 100$ to repaint both wheels,
of cause it is more fragile but there is no problem yet
with my finish, maybe 4-5 tyre changing at this moment.

This was the picture Andre used to advertise his bike (now mine) and you can see why I immediately liked it.... Red wheels, but the Factory silver tank.
Kinda cool that there's another one so similar just down the freeway in long beach
