After reading the various posts on sorting the BC's - i decided to sort them out by soldering the buggers.
So far i've done the one under the seat no problem, and also managed to do the male connector by the engine, but just can't get to the efffin female connections - do you have to remove the tank? any pointers? :pissed:

I think the tank has to come off.
Did you solder yours because you've been experiencing charging problems yourself, or just because everyone says the connectors are shit?

The brown connectors in my bike have never shown signs of heat buildup, and the charging system has always done it's job.

I have noticed that this winter, I'm having to run the bike longer than I remember in order to keep the battery charged, or connect it to a charger once a week. I ride only 4 miles each way to work, but never had to worry about that before this year.

I may be developing a problem, but the brown connector nearest the regulator/rectifier module is still looking good.
The other one does require pulling the tank to reach, and I plan to inspect it as soon as I use up my current tank of gas.

Personally, I wouldn't mess with it if the brown connectors show no signs of being hot.

I cut off the brown connectors near the engine then soldered & sleeved the wires. Now there is no connector to fail and if the engine has to come out then I've got much bigger problems than 3 soldered joints.
