I want a decent looking, good quality, bellypan.
The only one that I have seen is the Skidmarx one, and I don't like it:

Actually I my feelings are stronger than that. I think it's fu$king horrible, it has no sympathy with the design of the bike whatsoever.

Something along these lines might work.

Does anyone know of any alternative sources yet?

I never liked the skidmarx belly pan the moment I saw it, I think we should all email them our feelings and send then pictures of the ones on the early prototype shivers!
I doubt it will take them long to redesign it, You can bet they haven't sold many belly pans either! They must know it look pants?? everyone I showed pictures of it too also agreed it looks hideous, it's a bit like a big chin sticking out of the front of the engine, NO THANK YOU!!
Stuff it I'll email them and I'll send them a link to this forum! that will sort it, we are the boys that count and who's opinions matter the most, if we thinks it's looks crap then it's crap!!:soap:
It's surprising too as the rear hugger is a work of art IMO.
mind you saying that their front screen is a bag of w*nk too!!
If you guys are happy then I will email them all the pics I have or you guys tell me which ones to send.
I have scoured the net and contacted every belly pan manufacture I could find, skidmarx are the only company making them at the moment. Much like Akrapovic, they were interested in talking about future Shiver accessories.
My dealer did hint that Aprilia will bring one out, god only knows when that will be though?? He has had the starter motor go on there demo Shiver, he's convinced it was because the starter motor is so exposed, he thinks water and crap off the road plus debris hitting it caused it to fail.

Yup, the screen is unbuyable too, as is the headlight cover.
Needs to be light smoky and as much like the Aprilia one as possible :)
I expect everyone else knows this already but I discovered on a long ride yesterday that the faster I go the further forward I lean and I can just rest on the air pressure. Very comfy. I got up to about 100mph and was perfectly happy without a screen at all.
I think if that was the cause of the starter motor going mine would have gone a long time ago. It gets hit with loads of water mud dirt and dust almost every time I go out.
It must have been faulty and then gone because of the crap hitting it.

I've contemplated a headlight cover in clear, presumably you wouldn't see much of it. Actually I would really want one in yellow, but that's just me. If I can get some perspex I'd make my own.
Go ahead Perfect, send them an email. I would be surprised if they have sold many of these bellypans, if they have it's because its the only one on the market, not because it's good looking for sure. I would happily pay more for something that looks decent, but no way will I pay £100 for that.
It needs something that works with the design of the bike, also something that provides a bit of protection for the oil filter.
I might be tempted to email Pyramid plastics to see if they are considering making something appropriate. Are there any manufacturers either in the UK or in Europe that regularly produce nice stuff for Aprilias?

my best suggestion would be to contact pimmie on the forum here, he knows the guys at MSS pro-mille really well, and those guys make top stuf. maybe he can persuade them to make one..

I spoke to pyramid on the phone and they told me in no uncertain terms they had no plans to make a belly for the Shiver, they felt it wasn't financially viable as in their opinion the Shiver is has a very limited Market.
I think our best bet is for Skidmarx to redesign it or to contact C walker's recommendation Pimmie.

Interesting. I got this back in response to an email I sent to pyramid.
Thank you for your enquiry, I have passed your request to the development department and made a note of your email address. I will email if and when any parts comes available.
I kinda figured that was a no to be honest.

That's most manufactures standard response to email inquiries, I got one of those off Pyramid too, a couple of weeks later I called them as I had decided against the skidmarx pan.
That's when they seemed a little negative, had a similar response from Akrapovic and K&N too!
You know there are people out there in the bike world that still don't know what an Aprilia Shiver is!!
They are missing out!!
Do us favor any of you who have time, register you interest at K&N too, the more we inquire the more chance we have of other products becoming available.

Thank the gods for AF1 and Jon and Micah.
We should have a party for them once they've given us the uberShiver.
Mail sent to K&N.

I agree, they are a real credit to the Shiver fold, It must be hard as I know they
look after all the other Aprilia Folk on this forum too.
Thanks for the K&N request.

looks a bit 'thrown on' to me, there's a huge gap at the front..
i don't like the style of the skidmarx, this one in se looks better, but not much on the bike..

Not sure it's worth £150
It does have a generic bellypan look about it. It's better than the Skidmarx one though. Personally I'll hold off.

Me too.
It looks like this bike is not going away :burnout: ... so the bits will come. :)
In AMCN this week they have quite a few of Aprilias planned bikes revelaed.
!200 version, sport 1200, adventure etc
Their whole company relies on the success of the new, in house designed engines.
Rock on Tommy.

I'm going to hold off too, we will agree it badly needs a belly pan, I don't think it will be long before someone designs one we all feel is perfect.
I'm emailing skidmarx our thoughts today.

Well Guys and girls I have sent an email to skidmarx re the Belly Pan, let's see what happens.
I have copied it in for you.
Dear Skidmarx,
I'm part of a large group of Aprilia Shiver owners and we chat on the largest Aprilia forum in the world. We are very interested in a belly pan for this bike, most of us have already fitted your rear hugger and we all think it looks superb!!
Unfortunately and please don't take offense by this we are not so keen on your belly pan for the Shiver. though we are very grateful of your quick response to develop after market parts for this bike we were wondering if you had any plans to re design your original belly pan or launch another version? we have some images that we could send you for some ideas, I would be happy to send them to you if could send me your email address.
We are without doubt the major authority when it comes to the Shiver and we all feel that if you were to redesign it then it would most definitely improve your sales for the belly pan.
I hope you take this email as constructive feedback, we are all very happy with your other products for the Shiver. check us out.

We look forward to your reply.
Kind regards, Dan Peever
