Not even close. I used to own an '04 Factory and now have a 1098S. Go get the Duc, very flickable and it has more power and less weight compared to the Factory.

That's the most important statement. Hmmm, about 40 more horsepower with brakes like no other. Apples and Oranges.

thanks for advice guys.I went over to Modesto Ducati and rode the 848 and 1098.they were both great bikes but the 848 just didn't feel like enough on the bottom end, but as for the 1098, it was sweet!Looking forward to owning it!

40 bhp more is not the case. A well tuned RSVR with slip ons and an intake kit with PCIIIusb makes 113-118 bhp on our dyno. The same mode to a 1098 net about 126-130 bhp. A lot more but lets not get too far from factual. I know our dyno reads low, but it is consistent.

Shoot, I was suprised myself.I just moved out to the west coast about 6 months ago from the midsouth and that doesn't happen out there too much.

The 1098 is a real 20-30 lbs lighter (429 on our scales fueled) than the similarly prepped Aprilia, that helps a LOT too,but once again I am after a real perspective.
Both are great bikes. The V990 is proven to take 60-100K miles of street use. The Ducati has not proven that just yet.

ALL dealers for ALL brands should offer Demos for qualified SERIOUS buyers. Sure that is is our philosophy at AF1 but more and more bike dealers are taking notice.

AMS def has demos...they give you a 999*might be a 1098 now* when you service your bike...although that was almost 4 years ago

that,s a great idea,a loaner bike!
I wish that dealers would frequent track day events had allow people who are seriously interested in a bike the opportunity to try it.

Yeah, really, then we wouldn't have to rely on articles or current owners of a bike to help us make a decision. There's nothing worse than having expectations of a bike and getting them shot down a notch or two after the purchase!!!!!!!:bangwall:

what kind of riding are you doing?
I'm not too sure your money wouldn't be better spent by putting a 1060 kit on that factory and buying some light weight parts to equal the weight of the 1098.
