Can anyone advise me on replacement sprockets for my 06 Pegaso Trail. I thought I was the only person in the world who owned one of these bikes and had resigned myself to lonely wanderings... But now I find I am not alone !!!!! Anyone help ? I need Front and rear.
Ta !

The front sprocket from Aprilia is £53.62 + VAT.
Pattern from JT (supply most distributors, part number 308.15) is more like £15, but doesn't have the rubber noise damper. I'm on a one tooth smaller JT sprocket (308.14) on my Strada and I haven't noticed the difference in noise.
JT list a pattern rear for the Strada, but as the Aprilia one isn't very expensive its a bit pointless (28.52+VAT); the Trail isn't listed so is only available as a genuine part (unless Renthal do one, but I'm guessing you ride your bike rather than park it and sit next to it). The part number is 8107167 (now superseded to 9014990) but they are £65.99 +VAT!!!!
If there's any markings on the sprocket, let me know and I'll see if I can figure out a pattern match - like I say, they don't list it but it might turn out to be the same as something else they do list.

Thanks for the info. Yes I do tend to ride it as much as possible (I,m trying to wear it out faster than it depreciates) but I think I am losing the race !
All the O rings are coming off the chain (despite only ever using scotoil on the chain) so I a bought a spare chain prior to my recent trip abroad (to take with me just in case) but have not bought sprockets yet. One of the rollers now has a hint of rust staining and so I think its soon time to swap everything.
Thanks for the advice. I have swapped my bars for a pair of Renthal (Red ones) to mainly to give a straighter bar and give me somewhere to mount the GPS.
Cheers, will speak again !

Looking at the manual the final gearing on the Strada and Taril are the same, so why the difference in price? Is it just an Aprilaia rip off?

Panda, didn't realise you had a smaller front sprocket. How does that work out? Is the acceleration much better? Does it take much off the top speed? Why go for a smaller front and not a bigger back?

Well if the sprockets on the strada and trail are the same that should make finding aftermarket parts that bit easier. when I was phoning round none of the people I spoke to listed the trail variant. I would prefer to keep to the standard gearing and keep things simple.
Cheers chaps.

The bike feels a bit punchier, I don't think its made the speedo much less accurate but it still gets to about 110mph. I bought both standard and 1 tooth smaller thinking I would put the standard one back on but I'm not going to now. Well worth doing for the money, so long as you don't do many motorway miles.
I don't think bigger back sprockets are easy to get hold of, I had the sprockets I used on the shelf.
The Trail and Strada sprockets have different bolt patterns to suit the different wheels.

Different mounting holes?? I had better buy the right ones then.
Panda - can I have your old front one if its not too worn ?? .
(yes I am a cheapskate!)

As the speedo on the Pegaso is driven from the gearbox, the reading is dependent gearbox out put shaft rpm rather than rear wheel RPM. Hence even if you put a smaller front sprocket on and a real big rear one, the speedo would still read approx 110 (or maybe a little more as you would hit the limiter in top.

Yep, because your overall gearing would be about the same, so you'd not be making any real difference to the acceleration / top speed.
I've only changed the front though, not the rear.

Any updates on an aftermarket sprocket for the Trail? It appears that the Strada sprocket won't fit (5 vs 6 bolt holes) and the Wemoto website incorrectly lists the JT sprocket for the Strada (JTR 703) as fitting the Trail. Has anyone modified another sprocket to fit the Trail?

I think that the sprocket from the old Peg, and the Peg Factory should fit

There is a thread i opened long time ago with all compatible bikes that use this sprocket

I got my front and rear sprockets, plus DID chain from M&P for £69.99 delivered for my trail. I did have to ensure they sent a JTR-5 to fit.

Thanks guys, especially Elvis and Scorpio. Most helpful. Looks like an F650GS sprocket should fit - they are as common as flies here - the bikes that is. Standard F650 srocket is 47 tooth rather than 44, so if I can't get the 44, I'll try for a 16 tooth front sprocket. This should fit but there may not be any room for the case saver, that would reduce the risk crankcase damage should the chain come off. I might just stay with the 15 tooth and accept the slight gearing up, given that I'm mostly on the road.
Any comments appreciated.

I'm running my Strada using a Kawasaki Eliminator (250cc) front 14T sprocket, together with the original rear. Some while back, I've tried a 16T for the front but have to grind off a bit (1-2mm) from the case protector, the inner side of it. Didn't like it so now happily stayed with 14T.
That may answer your concern, Frodo.

Bising, thanks for relaying your experience with the 16T front. I'll see if can give that a go.

if you want to change sprockets for fuel saving or snappy acceleration
try this website www.gearingcommander.com and try diffrent settings

My sprockets finally arrived (delay due to the earthquake). Could not get a 44 rear so I got the 47 tooth (standard for F650GS) and a 16 tooth front. This fits fine in behind the case protector. There isn't much clearance but it doesn't rub. Bising: why did you grind your case protector back?
BTW this set up needs a 112 link chain, not the 110 standard.
Thanks
