At operating temps, the oil level is about 1/4 inch above the max line. Does this hurt the engine or effect performance?

better to be a little full than a little low, right? i hate that oil tank, when i change my oil i always try to get it right but as soon as i ride and check it again, no matter what i do, it always seems to have a little to much, what the hell, runs fast as hell anyway.

I've found that level, filling it to the MIN line is all you need to do. Once you run the bike, it will be up to the MAX line.

Just thought I'd give you another way to check quick.

With oil too high I will over flow through the crank case breather into the air box. There is a clear tub on the right side that collects the fluid, under the air box. If that fills up it will flow to the front of the air box and leak out through a drip hole. Then when you park you will see oil drop behind the front wheel. This happened to me I thought it was the valve conver:eek: glad it wasn't :D
