OK, I'm about to place a deposit on a Hypermotard. Dealer says I can get a standard version in 1-2 weeks. The S version is 3-6 months out...OUCH!
Now without a doubt the goodies are worth the $2500. But with the same engine and me being a weekend warrior style rider wil any of that sstuff really matter???
I could really care less about the carbon, but the Ohlins and cast Marchesni's are VERY tempting.
Any feedback????

Id just wait it out, youll regret it. Plus when you get the s itll be in perfect time for the begining of next season instead of the end of the current season.
Are you going to keep the sxv?

Oh yes, I'll be keeping the SXV. No disappointments here. It's a frakin' race bike with a licsense plate!! The Duc will be much more suitable for group rides over 40 miles and short 2-up day trips.

Ducati Seattle has a Hypermotard S. I rode it.
Or are you in the "other" Washington?

Keep in mind that the Hyper has basically at 40 mile tank and a 30 mile seat. I'm not kidding. It's fun for the first 1/2 hour and also a good thing it runs out of gas quickly because your ass needs a break.

I would wait for the S. the ohlins and wheels is worth the cost difference. you'll get all or most of it back at resale.

Have you ever ridden an SXV??? Yes mine is licsensed and I do road ride it. The Hyper is like a barcolouger by comparison! But I'm not looking for a cruiser, fast + fun outweigh comfort for me. All I really wanted to do was street liscense my WR450F, but no go in WA!!!! (Bastard tree huggers) Anyway now look where I'm at, an Aprilia SXV in the shed and about to pick up a Hyper as well.
Those kids didn't really need college anyway!
Thanks Jupiter for the lead, but I'm hooked up in Portland with my Aprilia/Ducati dealer... and very satisfied.

Have you had a chance to test ride a Hypermotard?

I have --- spent a couple of weeks on our demo. It's def. a fun ride. Seating position is a different, but it's basically a stripped Multistrada.
I'd def. buy one.

How was it compared to a KTM Super Duke, or the new Tuono?

I like the power-bands on the SD and T....more upper rev-range power than the HM. The HM seems to run outta breath rather quick. Tons'o'torque in the basement though....The gear box is pretty clunky --- but since I put the first couple hunny on it -- I'm sure it'll clear up (somewhat anyway). I'd loose the rubber on the pegs though --- it's like riding on ice-cream sandwiches....
The seating position / riding stance was fairly similar to my SXV. Higher compared to the SD and T --- and you have absolutely nothing in front of you. (no guages (similar design and size to the SXV --- but with more features), no windscreen, etc.). The stand-out feature : front brakes on this thing are great. Definitely an upgrade I'd make on either of the two above.
In the end, I'd probably still opt for a new T . Of course with the addition of HP calipers and'a 1060 kit....

Are you trying to lure me into a Tuono Steve?
I have sat on one, two-up at that, and the offer is standing to ride the demo anytime. It's definitely a bit "porkier" than the SXV with a moderate splash of additional horsepower. It is definitely more refined and road tuned as well. Should I start a Tuono vs. Hypermotard thread???

Well if you really want the look and style of a Supermoto bike --- but want to commute and ride without additional service worries then get the HM. For a commuter/street ride, the HM has most of the best elements of a Supermoto and none of the limitations (well it does have a limited fuel range --- but it's better than my 30-35 miles a tank SXV). Just don't expect the odo and trip meters to match....;)

We can make a Tuono very, very attractive. Give me a call and I can let you know just how good it can be. We can get you a tricked out Tuono for the price of the Hypermotard, and you will get the AF1 guarantee that you will be happier with the Tuono.
I have a customer that is already looking to sell his hypermotard, 2 weeks after purchasing it.
Call me.

Just rolled over 750 miles on my HM, and I can agree with everything said here.
It's tons 'o fun, but after putting 140 miles on it today, my ass is aching. I'm e-mailing Corbin on Monday to ask about a new seat. It also has lousy range... best I've seen so far is ~30mpg, so I can get about 90 miles on one tank if I push it deep into the reserve.
I rode the S at Duc-Sea several times, and the things that stand out between it and mine (base) are the suspension and brakes. Between the DLC on the fork and the forged wheels, it seems more plush over the rough stuff, and the brakes are from the 1098. I was warned repeatedly prior to my test rides to take it easy on the brakes. They are very good.
I called looking to put a deposit down on one, expecting there would be a waiting list, but instead found that there was a base coming in the following week. I just couldn't resist.
It had a box full of neutrals at first, which was alarming, but it's smoothed out considerably with mileage. It still needs a bit of boot, but nothing more than the Falco.
The riding position was totally alien to me, as I have no off-road riding experience, but after a week or so, I got back on my R6 and couldn't find the footpegs. I can't believe I rode that thing.
I tested a Tuono late last year, and it was fun, but it doesn't do anything for me aesthetically. Having said that, the idea of handling like the HM with 40 more HP is enticing, but I doubt my license would survive very long.
