This morning I take the Tuono out for a ride. Then the engine starts momentarily cutting out. Then it dies completely. I hit the starter,. NOTHING. Hit it again. Nothing. Stranded on the side of the Hutchunson Parkway in Westchester County, NY!

To make a long story short:
I was able to pull off the miraculous road side repair! THANK GOD.

It turned out to be a wire BEHIND the fuse box on the right side of the instrument panel. There is a square white plastic connector on some wires comming out of the fuse box. Its a four wire connector that only has three wires run through it. Well, one of the three (blue wire, the starter/ignition!) was never achored completely in the back of the connector. I bent up the little tabs on the female sleeve and snapped it into the back of the connector. Then I re-connected it and BAM! We have ignition!

I had already called the dreaded tow truck. But I was able to call and cancel in time.

If it happens to someone else, now you know.:D :D :D

Big Glen,
Thanks, that's a good one! I will remember that one.
I lost one of my high beams on my Tuono almost like that. I took the fairing off & checked the bulb. It looked good so I put in the other side, it indeed was OK. Then I checked the connector for the bulb & it was the same way. I did the same thing you did, plugged it in & it was fine! I guess this stuff does sometimes happen on these bikes.

I'm impressed and 'dips me lid' to ya BigGlen that you found the problem by the side of the road.

Thanks for sharing and I'll put that in the memory bank!! :p:

There was a thread on one of the forums here where the computer was resetting while riding, not starting. Maybe it was a similiar problem, lose wire at the back of a fuse??

About a month ago I evedently got a hint of things to come:
On one Sunday ride after stopping to get something to eat, I push the starter button and NOTHING. Push it again... nothing.
I rolled the bike a little, fiddled with kickstand, nudged gear change lever, blah blah bla.....then just as suddenly, it starts for me.
I never quite new what really happened.

Now I know what it was!:D
