anybody had their throttle bodies bored to 54mm? what kind of difference did they make?

what other mods are a must, aside from chip & exhaust?

Are you talking about 57mm (as it says in your thread title), or 54mm as it says in your post text?

If you are talking about 54mm TB's, I did that and got a 2.2 hp gain. The gain was all in the top end of the power band, from 9K-10K rpm.

As far as other mods go, an airbox is good for a few hp, the '00.5 air intake is good for about .5hp, and I had good results from a PCIII with a custom map.

yeah I mistakenly put 57mm in my thread subject, but really meant 54's. (only the new bikes get 57's).

Thanks for the info though. I'm still working on getting the midrange dip taken care of and just looking for extra tricks.

I've got the SBK Ti exhaust and chip right now, and just ordered an EVO high-flow air filter. Hopefully that will make some improvements, but I was curious about boring the throttle bodies too for even more airflow.

Sounds like eventually I'll need a PCIII to custom tailor the mixture throughout the rev range as I dont live close enough to any of the shops to have a custom eeprom burned.

Do you have the Aprilia/Akrapovic SBK full-system and chip? That should fill out your mid-range dip quite well.

The Evo airbox was good for three-four hp in the midrange.

When I got a PCIII with a custom map, my dyno curve became totally flat and built steadily to redline.

the exhaust I have is the aprilia Titanium slip-on, not the full system. It came with its own chip.

There is not much of a dip anymore, but still just a little (enough to notice anyway). Sounds like the airbox will do the trick. I guess the 54mm TB's are more for top-end?

also, I dont know how much difference just the evo filter will make versus the complete filter & box kit. I only ordered the filter.

I did many dyno runs on my Tuono when I was doing all the various mods. In stock, derestricted form, there was about a 10-12 hp dip in the midrange.

I had the Aprilia Ti slip-on and chip on my bike for a while. It didn't do much to get rid of the mid-range hole, maybe an improvement of two hp in the mid-range and one hp on top. As I said before, the Evo race airbox added 3-4hp in the mid-range.

I eventually went to an Akrapovic 2-1 full system and PCIII with custom map. The combination of both of those gave a completely flat power curve. I don't know how much the PCIII will do with the slip-on.

Lowering your gearing, if you haven't already done so, is another good modification to make to the bike.

The Aprilia kit has two chips, 57mm TBs and carbon airbox with all fittings. Part # 8796738 good for 5.5 hp and 3 lb/ft torque. Combined with Aprilia/Akra SBK system you should expect 122-125 rear wheel hp.
