View Full Version : how to mount OZ 90deg valve stems?

I ordered a set of the OZ Racing 90 degree valve stems, but am not sure how to install them (facing what direction). I would assume that the stem's fill should go in line with the wheel and if on the lower side of the rim, the fill should face forward (so the elbow is the front part rotating forward).

On high performance cars I've had in the past, these were installed facing out still (perpindicular to rim) but there was an aluminum L bracket (made by Porsche specifically for highspeed applications) that was also installed to keep the valve stem from bending at high speed and possibly causing a leak. I'm sure it's not going to make any real difference, and installing inline with the rim makes attachment of air hose easiest, so that's what I'm planning on now...unless someone knows better or has an idea why not to do it

TIA

not sure if I understand the Q.....

the valve core faces the side of the rim, not front or back, have it point out the side of the bike just like on Ducatis.

Ed,

Yea, that was my question, where does the valve face. I thought it might be better to face it parallel with the rim so it's easier to get the nozzle from the airhose on. Parallel with the rim and the nozzle goes into the rim, sticking out, the nozzle has to run parallel with the rim.

Thanks

I'd still stick it out the side perpendicular to the rim....they do make straight air chucks for your air hose...

cool thanks, the problem isn't my airchuck, it's when I'm out and need air and the ones at any gas station are huge with those built in gauges and are angled at a 45 deg angle that makes it impossible to get onto the stock valvestem w/o banging your hand against your hot rotors...
