I have the 520 on and I looking at the wheelbase of the bike and thinking about where to position the rear axle and wheel when I cut the chain. Typically, where do you guys cut your chains... to leave the axle in the middle of the swingarm adjuster range or someplace else?

I will be at Loudon (Clarkie or Dennis if you are out there I would really appreciate your input) and is pretty tight track so I am thinking adjust it for the first 1/3 of the swingarm range and then when it breaks-in it will be in the middle of the swingarm.

Anyone want to divulge their wheelbases??? :burnout:

Thanks guys for your input.

sometimes you can't position it where you want it. my 520 with 1 tooth down in the front gave me a 4/5 position (meaning a longer wheelbase). I rather go long on the wheelbase than shorter as you can change other areas of the bike to make to turn in quicker if that's needed.

although I'm new to the aprilia bike I'll know march 12-16 what the bike is all about riding the cartagena track in southern spain. =)

thanks ... i have a new chain with 16/44 gearing. I already lowered the front and raised the rear and the bike is pretty good but I am thinking this is an opportunity to tighten it up more. Apparently these bike are pretty slack from the factory and need to be tightened-up to get into real track shape.

Too be honest, it's doubtful you could tell the difference repositioning the wheel. Try to get it as close to the middle so that you can change gearing without changing chains for different tracks.
