View Full Version : Stiff clutch palliative?

This is not a big issue but it bothers me sometimes. This might be my only complain about the Tuono.
Normally it's OK, but when I'm stuck in very heavy traffic jams for extended periods, it becomes an issue. When it bothers me I change to neutral and rest my left hand for a couple seconds. It makes an already not enjoyable situation even worst. Did not have any problem with my previous bikes.
Do I have to learn to live with this or there is something that can be done? I already adjusted the clutch and front brake levers to the minimum, which helped a bit. Must add I don't have small hands. Appreciate your advice.

Rumour says that the Evoluzione clutch slave cylinder reduces clutch effort by 15%. I don't have any personal experience with it, though. You can get oneby clicking the 'Shop Online' link under the banner at the top of the page.

To make the clutch pull easier you'd have to reduce the diameter of the master cylinder or increase the diameter slave cylinder.
Keep in mind that this will also increase the amount of lever travel required to fully release the clutch.

Yes, I read somewhere about the evoluzione option reducing the effort, but was hoping somebody who did the mod would comment if it really makes a difference.

Well, frankly speaking I would not dare to modify the unit myself. Just wondered if someboy had any experience with options such as using a specific kit, etc.

What I meant to say is that Brembo makes several sizes of master cylinders, it may be possible to purchase a smaller one.

I'm used to a Ducati clutch, now the Tuono's feels light to me...

Ok, I get what you mean. Now if someone went that road before...

Perhaps thats my problem. I was used to a much lighter clutch. As I said, normally no problem...but those days with 45 minutes bumper to bumper jams are unconfortable for my hand.

Get a grip exerciser and work on the human end of the equation.
It's only a matter of time before I upgrade to an EVO slave cyl. myself.
The diff, though, will probably be small but noticeable with the upgrade.

Yep! I have thought about it, just didn't do it 'cause it may hinder my piano playing. On the other hand, I'm a lousy player anyway, so not much will be lost :D

I had the Evoluzione clutch slave put on my Tuono during my 1st service at Ken Zeller's shop. It reduces the pull noticable. I am very pleased with the reduced effort and it also looks great.:D
