Slip? Full system? What do you have, and what brand? Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I wandered through the last 20 pgs of this forum and didn't find anything. I've seen a few mentions of Akropovic(sp?) and Arrow.
On the Japanese bike sites, I tend to see more Two Brothers, Yoshimura, Muzzy, etc. Those not so great for Italianos?

I've got the Aprilia after market slip with chip installed on Mille and love it. Where it really helped was in the mid range. Full pipe or slip ons don't seem to add much top end power. Looking most max power they all seem about the same. Just pick the one you like the best and go with it.
Here's a picture of a Dyno run from my Mille. Pipe and chip only.

Good luck, you're getting a great bike.

I have an Akrapovic 2 into 1 full system with carbon cannister on my Tuono R. It gained a few hp on top and about 5-10 in the midrange, where the RSV/R/Tuono has a significant hole in the power curve.
Speaking very generally, a slip-on will give you a good weight saving, a better sounding bike, and a modest hp improvement at the top end. A good full system will do all of that but also improve the mid-range hole. Both the slip-on and full system should be used with a good chip or a custom-mapped power commander.
Besides Akrapovic, I'd say other nice exhausts are made by Tigcraft, Arrow, Renegade, Leo Vince. Stuff like D&D, Yosh, 2 Brothers don't really suit our bikes, IMHO.

I've been using an Akrapovic slip on with a performance chip (don't know which one) on my Mille and have been very happy. Better power. Good sound without being too noisy. Very light compared to the stock muffler/cat converter. Akrapovic makes the Aprilia Racing slip on I believe.

I put the Aprilia race pipe and chip on my Tuono R. I also put AF1 supplied larger race airbox. Mid range much better and high end improved. Sound way up.

You REALLY want to fill that "hole" in the midrange? Try a set of these 2-2 Akra's:

Yup, Rustie's pretty much got the biggest exhaust around here...really fills that "hole" nicely.
(couldn't resist)
KingAtlas, in case you are wondering, he's got the Akra 2-2 exhaust and then he went and bought two of the Akra carbon cannisters for the 2-1 exhaust which have a bigger outlet diameter. Thus making his exhaust really "big"

Do the cops give you crap about not having any rear turn signals?

Tuono73,
No problem there......I have the Evo '"Turn Signal Integrator". My tailights now function as stop, running and turn signals.....plus I changed out my standard 1157 bulbs with those super bright "AUT-1157" LED's by Ledtronics. You can check these LED bulbs out at:

Hey deksawyer,
Are those the latest Tigs....the ones with improved HP? We're getting another Tuono (Racing) and those would definitely be a less expensive way for large exhaust.....don't think my bro is going to spring for what I spent on my Akra's.....

According to an Aprilia factory technical rep at my local Aprilia dealer demo day, the Akra 2-2 is the best performance exhaust system. He said that it was developed with Aprilia Racing. For a slip-on, my dealer said that I could do no better than the Aprilia Racing titanium slip-on. I have the Aprilia titanium slip-on which came with my Tuono R, so the dealer (the largest Aprilia in the US) was very honest with me. He could have recommended and sold me another slip-on to me. It gets down to sound and appearances (carbon-fiber v. titanium) and your budget for exhaust systems. I'm very happy with the Aprilia titanium slip-on. It's loud but I love the noise. I can't see the dollar justification for buying another exhaust system. I'm putting my next performance dollars into an Evoluzione race airbox and a Factory Pro chip with customized chip mapping and fuel pressure regulator.

rustie, unfortunately, these are the plain old regular Tigs.......I'd like the new version, as the power & torque increase are great over this system, but I can't afford them!! I'd have to change the rear linkages for them to fit as well....
Saying that, my BigTig arrived this morning - full review coming soon!!

rts571,
Where are you and who's your local dealer?

King Atlas,
I live in San Francisco. I purchased my Tuono R from Scuderia West. Factory Pro is only twenty minutes north of SF. So it is easy for me to take my bike to them for a custom mapping of my chip.

Scuderia is where I'm headed tomorrow to get the Tuono. You wouldn't trust those guys to do the chip install?
Anyone know the U.S. price for the Aprilia brand race slip ons, plus chip?
rts571

You can do the chip install yourself. I did it on my Tuono. It's very straightforward. Scuderia West can do a custom mapping for a Power Commander installed on our bike. I decided to go the Factory Pro chip route.

TAKE A LOOK AT THE IXIL HIGH MOUNT TITANIUM OVAL SLIP ON FOR THE TUONO. I GOT MINE ON SALE FROM INDYSUPERBIKES FOR A MERE $399. IT HAS THE 50MM SUPERRACING CORE AND FIT AND FINISH IS OUTSTANDING.MUCH BETTER THAN THE FACTORY UNIT WHICH LEAKED FROM BOTH ENDS.:smokin: I HAVE THE PERFORMANCE EPROM THAT CAME WITH THE BIKE, K&N AIR FILTER, PCIII AND DERESTRICTED AIR BOX. PERFORMANCE GAINS WERE IMMEDIATELY NOTICED OVER THE ENTIRE RPM RANGE. SOUND IS DEEPER THAN THE FACTORY TITANIUM CAN AND PRETTY QUIET UNTILL YOU WACK IT REAL HARD.WIDE OPEN THROTTLE WILL DEFINATELY GET YOU A LOT OF ATTENTION. IXIL ALSO OFFERS TAMER CORES.

Atlas, you might wait to see the Harris system Aaron Clark put on his Tuono special. It'll be at Laguna Seca at the Aprilia USA tent. Aaron did a custom installation of the exhaust- I can't wait to see it.

Since this thread is a month old, I've since gotten the Aprilia Evo Ti slip on pipe & love it.

Well, I've placed a set of slip-on dual Renegades on my '02 Mille and absolutely love them. I have no idea if they even make a set for the Tuono or not. As far as performance, they will all be about the same me thinks.

I have a Micron slip on. Loud enough to make the sheep and horses run and scare little old people! Better with a helmet on, only hear half of it. Got rid of all that weight too.

ApexMolester's dual Arrow system is REAL sweet, I saw it yesterday in Monterey. Gimme that titanium any ol' day.
